Tiger Baja – 2017 Season Recap

Tiger Baja was able to compete in all three SAE Baja events, for the first time ever, in 2017! We were able to achieve this goal with much hard work, as well as incredible support from the University of Memphis – Herff College of Engineering, sponsors, and crowd funding initiatives.

I would like to take a moment to recognize some of our sponsors. We absolutely could not do what we do without them, and they are as follows:

EMJ Metals
OH Hendricks Sheet Metal
Piedmont Plastics
Ring Container Technologies
Tri-State Auto Paint & Supplies
QA1 Precision Products
Gorilla Axles
Bridge Motorsports
Grip Royal

With all of the support towards our program, we were able to finish as follows:

Year SAE Baja Event Location Overall Result 4-Hour Endurance Race
2017 California – Gorman 52nd / 94 31st
2017 Kansas – Pittsburgh 88th / 107 63rd
2017 Illinois – Peoria 59th / 99 38th

Our 2017 team has much to be proud of due to the fact that each of these results surpass the results of any single competition, other than that of Tennessee Tech in 2016.

We are constantly striving to improve our program, and we are so thankful for the opportunities that have been given to us!

Kansas 2014 Highlights!

We can finally relax!

Photo: Sleepy after a long couple of weeks of work!

Tiger Baja finished 37th in the endurance race today! Last year, we finished 43rd, so we made a pretty huge improvement this year. We only had to make two repair stops and we switched drivers twice. Overall, the team did a fantastic job and we are all so excited for next year!

We’d also like to give our team captain, Zain Noordin, a big farewell! Thanks for all you’ve done for Tiger Baja. We’ll miss you!

Uh oh!

It rained earlier and the field is so muddy. It’s clearing up and getting hot and sunny again now, so we’ll see if the mud dries up!
